‍Boost Turbo: We Built More Than a Search Tool

When Boost Commerce launched, the goal was simple: give merchants better search and filtering than what came out of the box. For a long time, that was enough. It’s not anymore.

The way shoppers discover, evaluate, and buy has fundamentally changed. Search is still your store’s highest-intent touchpoint, but growth today comes from what happens next: how effectively you convert that intent into revenue, increase basket size, and guide shoppers to purchase with confidence.

That’s no longer just a search problem. It’s a conversion rate optimization (CRO) problem.

That’s why we rebuilt Boost from the ground up. Boost Turbo is our most powerful version yet, designed not just as a CRO platform but as the revenue engine behind your storefront: connecting product discovery, merchandising, and personalization into a single system that turns traffic into measurable growth.

From Search & Filter to CRO Platform to Revenue Engine

Previous versions of Boost, V1 through V3, were built to solve discovery. They surfaced relevant products, handled typos, and gave merchants control over filters and collections. But as merchants scaled, they needed more than discovery. They turned to additional tools for bundling, upselling, back-in-stock, personalization, and lifecycle marketing. Each new app added weight to the storefront, slowed performance, and fragmented the experience.

Boost Turbo moves in the opposite direction. It consolidates these capabilities into a single, AI-powered platform designed not only to help shoppers find products but also to convert them and grow their baskets. This is where Boost evolves from a CRO platform into a revenue engine because it doesn’t optimize one step in isolation; it connects the full journey from discovery to purchase.

Merchants using Boost see a 3.53% search conversion rate, more than double Shopify’s native average of 1.4%.

The Architecture Behind the Speed

At the core of Turbo is a major architectural shift to Server-Side Rendering (SSR), where storefront content is pre-rendered before it reaches the shopper’s browser. This reduces load times by up to 30% and delivers PageSpeed improvements of up to 20 points, with particularly strong gains on mobile where most shopping happens.

This isn’t just a performance upgrade; it’s a conversion driver. Faster pages mean more products viewed, less drop-off, and a smoother path to purchase. Even small improvements in speed can significantly reduce bounce rates, making performance one of the most direct levers for revenue growth.

What’s New in Boost Turbo

Turbo isn’t an incremental update. Here’s what’s changed and why it matters for your bottom line:

Increase AOV with Smarter Bundles and Recommendations

AI-Powered Bundles

Turbo introduces AI-powered Predictive Bundles. This is a Turbo-exclusive feature that automatically groups Frequently Bought Together and Related Products and then applies the discount you set. Bundles surface directly on product pages, in instant search, and on results pages. Merchants using Predictive Bundles are seeing 20%+ lifts in Average Order Value.

Checkout Recommendations

Two new AI-powered checkout recommendation types, Frequently Bought Together and Related Items, create cross-sell opportunities at the highest-intent moment: right before checkout. This is where basket size is won or lost.

Cart Drawer Recommendations: Upsell at the Highest-Intent Moment

Released in March 2026, this is one of Boost Turbo’s most commercially impactful additions. You can now surface Personalized Recommendations directly in the Cart Drawer, right when a shopper is reviewing their basket and most open to adding one more item.

Why it matters for CRO: the cart is not the end of the discovery journey. It’s a second chance to grow the basket. Until now, most merchants needed custom development to pull this off. Boost Turbo creates a cart drawer upsell that integrates seamlessly with popular Shopify themes and requires no development effort.

What’s included:

New Cart Drawer placement available when creating a recommendation widget, with Frequently Bought Together and Related Items coming soon
AI-first personalization as default driven by individual shopper behaviour, with a configurable secondary fallback (Bestsellers, Most Viewed, Newest Arrivals)
Visual Editor support for full Cart Drawer setup, no code required
Shopify-native design that matches your existing theme automatically

Note: Cart Drawer Recommendations are available on the Accelerate plan under Boost’s GMV-based pricing. If you’re on legacy catalog-based pricing, reach out via live chat in the app dashboard to upgrade.

Improve Conversion with Better Testing and Merchandising Control

A/B Testing for Merchandising

For the first time, merchants can test what actually drives revenue through A/B Testing for Merchandising, rather than relying on instinct. Test product arrangements, promotions, and category displays against real shopper behavior.

Dramatically Expanded Merchandising Control

Previous versions of Boost had real limitations on how much control merchants had. Turbo removes them:

Pin up to 20 products per strategy (previously capped at 7)
Place banners across 50 positions on your storefront (up from 6)
Visual Editor with Smart styling, which can match styles from a theme or a URL
Code Editor (Liquid) for developers

Accessibility & Compliance

Turbo is built to ADA/WCAG accessibility standards, ensuring your storefront is compliant and inclusive out of the box.

Recover Lost Revenue with Built-In Retention and Demand Capture

Turbo natively includes capabilities that previously required separate apps:

Pre-order with automated confirmation emails and cancellation links
Back-in-stock notifications to recapture demand
Klaviyo and Attentive integration that links Boost's search and cart events to segment and trigger email and SMS flows

Scale Globally with Shopify Markets and Localization

Boost Turbo works seamlessly with Shopify Markets, giving merchants a native, synchronized global selling experience. Shoppers automatically see the right products, prices, and language for their market.

Here’s what Global Selling covers:

Market-targeted strategies: tailor merchandising and Predictive Bundles by market
Market-specific catalogs: show only products available in each shopper’s region
Localized pricing: sync with Shopify Markets for the right currency and regional pricing
Multilingual search and interface: support local languages and integrate with Langify and Weglot
Market-aware filters: remove irrelevant options based on market availability
Automatic sync: keep markets, catalogs, currencies, and pricing updated in real time

Global Selling is available on the Basic (Legacy) plan and above. Access it via Boost App admin → Settings → Global Selling.

Boost + REVIEWS.io: Turning Discovery into Revenue

Boost Turbo introduces a native REVIEWS.io integration that does more than validate purchases. It uses reviews to influence what shoppers see before they click.

First & only: reviews don’t validate after discovery, they control it.

Here’s how the integration works across the full journey:

Discovery: Boost uses AI-powered search, collection pages, filters, and recommendations to surface the right products
Trust: REVIEWS.io ratings, review volume, sentiment, and product attributes act as merchandising and ranking signals before the click
Revenue: better discovery and stronger trust can drive higher click-through, conversion, and AOV

The value compounds over time: more reviews improve discovery, better discovery drives more revenue, and more revenue generates more reviews.

The commercial momentum speaks for itself. In Q4 2025, Boost + REVIEWS.io delivered 30.6% customer growth quarter-over-quarter, with bundled MRR up 125% versus Q3. MRR grew from $2.5k in Q1 2025 to $20.5k by Q4, an 8x increase in a single year.

Why Boost Turbo is the Revenue Engine behind Shopify Product Discovery

Most Shopify merchants face a frustrating choice when it comes to product discovery and CRO:

Shopify’s native search is free but misses critical shopper-intent signals, lacks advanced merchandising capabilities, and can’t personalize at scale.
Enterprise tools like Algolia or Searchspring offer this capability, but come with 2-5x the cost and months of implementation time.

Boost Turbo is neither. It’s enterprise-grade CRO, purpose-built for Shopify at 50-70% less than the alternatives. It deploys in days, not months. It grows with you from startup to enterprise. And it consolidates what used to require five separate tools into a single tool.

93% of Boost’s reviews on the Shopify App Store are five stars. A significant number specifically call out Turbo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any cost for the Turbo migration?

The migration itself is completely free. It does involve moving to a new GMV-based plan structure. Unlike legacy pricing that charged for all products across all channels (including draft and out-of-stock), GMV-based pricing is fairer. You only pay based on what’s actually generating sales.

Will my theme customizations carry over?

Yes. All your store’s customizations are fully compatible with Turbo and will be migrated as part of the process.

How long does migration take?

It depends on how quickly you’re happy with the preview. For faster, prioritized assistance, reach out to the support team via live chat in your Boost dashboard.

Do I need to do anything myself?

No. Our team owns the migration end-to-end. You review and sign off at each step. That’s it.
